Early intervention is most powerful when Parkwood clinicians team with parents and caregivers to support the child’s learning and communicating in the home environment.

When parents are set up for success, children can communicate about what they find interesting, familiar and important to them. Parkwood clinicians utilize a variety of strategies to build parent coaching into our sessions with babies and toddlers experiencing communication delays or challenges.

Some of our areas of expertise include:

• Transforming language opportunities into daily habits! Caregivers can make everyday moments like meal time, bath time, bedtime routines and car rides therapeutic and engaging
• Building in “communication temptations” where children become skilled initiators of communication through commenting, imitating, and sharing with loved ones
• Teaching meaningful play that is motivating and fun! Play can be rich in imagination, creativity, language and connection.
