An Expressive language disorder is a communication disorder involving difficulties with verbal and written expression.
Parkwood clinicians have specific training to improve expressive language skills; specifically increasing communication use and opportunities in the home, school and work environment.
Our treatment goals are customized to the client’s needs and motivations, with the goal that learned skills will be generalized outside the clinic to be utilized with caregivers, peers and family members. Areas we address include functional communication, information for safety and wellness, age-appropriate sentence structure, vocabulary, grammar, syntax, narrative formulation and word retrieval.
